I wish tears were poems
So that some schmuck who knows
poems and likes them as much
can get something out of it.

Maybe I’ll get them published
after Xmas Day.
I wish you were already
a poem I can burst out of a candy bar
on Xmas eve.

I wish poems were candy bars
because I crave sugar so much,
love begins to taste like a pop
pop, pop.

Evening looms and Xmas mass
is a decision to make.
I cannot stop the tears, nor the poems.
Maybe I’ll stay here in this tiny room
forever writing poems til New year’s
pop, pop, pop.
