Just Another Magnificent Sunday

We saw two gray squirrels mating
in our neighbor’s magnolia

                       An ariel affair

Tree branches shivering
A candle flame

                        in the heat

They seemed so ordinary—who knew?
Here, in the Northeast,

                        making babies in the air!
