Domestic Reflections

Dancing Girl

Dance, baby girl,
Dance
So I can see
What you feel.

Your words
Are scarce;
You hide in
Your shadow,

But in
The graceful
Movements of
Your regal body

You are
Transparent
In emotion,
In beauty.

Dance away
Your fears,
Tears,
And pain.

Bring forth
The hope
You passionately
Convey

As you leap and
Bound across
The stage,
Twist and topple

From fatigue
From elation
From the
Freedom of
Dance.

Banishing the Demons

Tame those demons,
Boy,
For they are not
Real.
Replace them
With the love
I bestow on
You with kisses
On your soft cheeks
As you wake from
Your sweet slumber.

Perhaps you entered
This world
Too early.
Perhaps you could
Have grown more
Inside me
With him
By your side.

Squeezed tightly together
You were safe,
Secure, and
Not alone.

Protected from the
Unbearable sounds
Sights
Smells
Of this sometimes
Toxic
Existence.

You, and he,
Like me
Find comfort in
Sweet flavors
In soft, warm touch.

We hang onto the nurturing
Symphonies around
Us and the
Intoxicating aromas
That are accompanied
By pure
Beauty.

Go to the darkness
Where there is light,
Our light,
Until the demons
Evaporate
And light rains down
Upon the chaos
And all is calm.

When Angels become Savages

Crass is not becoming
Loud not charming
Go you brute
And don’t return

Until propriety is
Restored.
Respect yourself,
Your soul

With words of
Angels and
The wise and
Clothe your limbs

With garments
Infused with
The labors of
The human mind

For that is
What stands between
Us and the
Savages.

Stay

Stay with me
Love,
Don’t ever leave.

Our love is not
Like theirs.
They don’t know
What it feels like
To be two souls joined as
One

Or

Are we two halves
Who have
Finally been
Restored?

When I first saw you,
I knew you.
Your touch was familiar,
Your smell a
Fixture
In my life.

You tasted like
I’ve always
Known
Your flavor
And your voice
Was music to
My ears.

What of your face?
It introduced
Itself
And I nodded
In recognition.

Not because
We had
Been acquainted
But because
You
Seeped
Out from every
Crevice

And I knew that
I had found
You
Although
I had not known
You were
Lost.

What’s her Worth?

Worth is not bought,
But money doesn’t hurt.
What have we come to
That dollar bills define
Our value?

Is the sweat on my body
And the tears
That soak my clothing
Not testament to
My contribution?

How about the smiles
On their scrubbed
Faces,
Although they were covered
In chocolate
Just moments ago?

And their scraped
Knees that were
Tenderly tended to;
What is the cost of
That?

The answers given
Before the questions are
Even asked.
Forgotten lunches
Delivered in a
Jiffy

Does the house maintain itself
Fill its shelves
With sustainment?
Disinfect articles of
Slumber
And bathing?

It is not the world
That needs convincing,
This is enough.
It is she.
Tell her please,
Oh please,
Her worth.

You are priceless
Dear
You are irreplaceable.
There is no need for payment.

Just Breathe

Slow the beat
Bring the calm
Focus

Forget the
Rest
Enjoy your time
Here on
Earth
Before you are
Taken.

Breathe, smile
Walk, drink,
Just do
Keep doing
Don’t think

If you do
You have lost
So, instead,
Choose to
Win
Every minute
Every hour
Every day

Until your
Spirit expires
And the world
Goes on
Without you.
